Muslims in denial about Islam's treatment of women
Muzammil H. Hassan, a Muslim who emigrated to the U.S. in the 80s, founded Bridges TV to inform non-Muslims about Muslim culture. He is now accused of beheading his wife. Both Muslims, and media, are in denial about Islam's suppression of women.
There is no more powerful retardant to change and reform among individuals and in a community than human denial. According to Andrew Benz, Orchard Park Police Chief, on Thursday, February 12, 2009, Muzammil H. Hassan, the founder and CEO of Bridges TV, walked into the police station at 6:20 PM and told officers that his wife was lying dead at the Bridges TV offices. Later, Benz confirmed on WIVB Channel 4 that she was decapitated.

Girl strangled slowly for family's honour
Posted on Monday, December 01, 2008 11:10:21 AM by george76
A JORDANIAN man slowly strangled his 16-year-old married sister, using wire and the girl's scarf, after she visited a female friend because he had to "cleanse family honour".
After jailing the unidentified 20-year-old man for seven years, Judge Hassan Amayreh said: "It took him 30 minutes to strangle his sister to death with a metal wire and her own scarf."
In such cases in Jordan, if family members drop charges against those who carry out the crime, a court usually commutes or reduces sentences.
Amayreh said the brother "has confessed, and claimed that he killed his sister to cleanse his family's honour after her husband complained that she regularly disappeared from home without a reason".

First Time FBI Calls Case an 'Honor Killing'
Sent by RFchbt Almost a year after two teenage girls were found dead — allegedly executed by their father — in the back seat of a taxicab in Texas, the FBI is saying for the first time that the case may have been an "honor killing."
Sarah Said, 17, and her sister Amina, 18, were killed on New Year's Day, but for nine months authorities deflected questions about whether their father — the prime suspect and the subject of a nationwide manhunt — may have targeted them because of a perceived slight upon his honor.

Father Murders Daughter Wanting Out Of Arranged Marriage
Via an email from RitaA Jonesboro man faces murder charges in the strangulation death of his 25-year-old daughter early Sunday over what police said was her desire to end an arranged marriage.
Chaudhry Rashid, 54, is being held at the Clayton County jail and faces an initial court appearance Monday afternoon.
Police say he apparently became angry during an argument in which the victim, Sandeela Kanwal, told him she wanted out of the marriage, Clayton police spokesman Timothy Owens said.
The father and daughter are both of Pakistani descent, and police said language barriers have slowed their investigation.
