PODUJEVO, Serbia (Reuters) - Kosovo Albanians plan to honor their "savior" Bill Clinton by erecting a statue of the former United States president in the capital of Serbia's breakaway province.
The three-meter (10-foot) tall monument is still under construction in a studio in Podujevo north of Pristina.
"He is our savior. He saved us from extermination," sculptor Izeir Mustafa told Reuters. "I was thrilled by the work because I know what he did for us."
Kosovo has been under U.N. administration since 1999 after 78 days of NATO bombing ousted Serb troops who had killed some 10,000 ethnic Albanians in an 18-month counter-insurgency war againstAlbanian separatist guerrillas.

Pristina already has a road named after him, graced by a 12-metre (25 foot) tall mural of the former president. Pristina municipal authorities say they expect to erect the statue somewhere along Clinton Boulevard later this summer.
Mustafa has several more days to work before he bronzes the sculpture of Clinton, after which he will turn his attention to another soon-to-be former Western leader. . "I definitely will do a statue of (British Prime Minister) Tony Blair," he said. "He saved us as well".

Let me fill you in on this. Bill Clinton bombed the Christians so that the Muslims could have their own Islamic State.
Wow, the ignorance is astounding... The Balkans world is not as black and white (Christian against Muslim) as you might think. I recommend you get out of Mississippi for once and travel to some of these regions to see for yourself. Your comments don't make much sense. Why would Clinton favor an Islamic state in Europe? What does he have to gain? Is Clinton perhaps secretly a Muslim terrorist?
ReplyDeleteFYI, Albanian is not equal to Muslim. You should get your facts straight: Albanians have historically Christian roots;
30-40% of Albanians are Christian Orthodox and Catholics; today Albanians are mostly non-religious; most Albanians hate Islamofacism just as much as you do; Albanians in general are the most pro-American and pro-western people in the world today. I am sure there are some exceptions, just as there are some Americans who hate America. Differences of opinion are normal in free societies. Bottomline: in general Albanians are America's greatest fans.
Although I condemn the destruction of churches in Kosovo, you have to call it for what it is. This was not an attack against Christianity: it was an attack against Serbs. These people did not touch ALBANIAN CHURCHES, they destroyed SERBIAN CHURCHES. This was no jihad, it was an ethnic conflict: the aftermath of Serbian genocide and ethnic cleansing in Kosovo.
