ReplyDeleteYou're no doubt aware that the only reason we have a TV license fee in the UK is to fund the BBC - the state broadcaster.
If you buy a TV but don't watch any BBC channels you still need a license. Even worse, I believe that you are required to provide your name and address to the retailer when you buy a TV so that the licensing organisation knows about you.
Another not very well kept secret is that the BBC has a left wing bias. Coincidentally, so does the New Labour government.
It certainly sounds Orwellian to me.
A report has just been published here which questions the effectiveness of CCTV in preventing or detecting street crime. So if CCTV doesn't help stop crime, what is it for?
