The 3-week course is labeled as “A Simulation of Islamic History and Culture: 610-1100.” It’s for public schools throughout the nation.
Its curriculum web site informs: “This simulation allows students to learn about the history and culture of Islam and the Islamic world by ‘becoming’ Muslims. There are five phases of the unit.
“Students are assigned to a city, choose an Arabic name, and become familiar with their group and responsibilities outlined in the Student Guide. In the introduction section, students take a pretest, read a short history of Islam, and learn about Muslim dress and customs.
