Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (AHN) - An appellate judge in Saudi Arabia reversed a lower court decision sentencing a gang rape victim from 90 lashes to 200 lashes and slapping another six-months jail term for reportedly using the media to influence her case.
The 19-year-old victim of gang rape was earlier sentenced by a lower court to 90 lashes for violating the country's laws on sex segregation. The woman appealed her case before the appellate court hoping to get a lighter sentence.
