Here are some thoughts on this screed . . .including some excellent points pilfered from a variety of discussion boards -

* Couple this with the well-known commands to use deceit and trickery when at war against infidels....
* I hope the Pope will respond with a simple "No." - or at least a simple "we have been at peace with islam for quite some time now so what's your point?"
* Where is the letter from these noted scholars to jihadists condemning violence done in the name of Allah? - *crickets*
* The gall and hypocrisy of this letter is astonishing. Notice the inferred superiority of Islam referenced throughout the letter?
A Common Word between Us and You
The proper form should read "between You and Us". Those familiar with the islamic supremacist agenda recognize this as intentional placement.

When I skimmed thru the letter there was mention of "only one God and no associates," like we had that in common with them. Hmmm, Houston, we have a problem.
* The writers are afraid. They have played their hand wrong.
Leftist/Socialist dogma, political-correctness and all the other anti-Western drivel have failed.
The West is waking up, and has the military power to enforce peace on it’s own terms. The armed might of the Arab armies has proven to be insufficient to defend themselves from Israel; were it not for the US, Israel would have occupied Cairo and Damascus in 1973.
Against the US or Europe or Russia or China or India it has even less chance for success.
Muslim countries have made little or no effort to build modern societies. Without outside help, they will fail, and tolerance for Muslim behavior is waning.
I think the clerics fear the sales of Wii, iPods, etc., as each one is one step closer to the collapse of Islamic culture.. But this is entirely and exclusively the fault of the Muslims, and they know it. Islam is a failed political system and a failed ideology with significant religous brimborium.
Without the jiziyah they cannot even feed themselves. They produce nothing of value and therefore hope they can somehow 'conquer' to take booty, as prescribed in the Koran, that filthy book of the Muhammedans.
Many Muslim countries have burgeoning populations, and will be unable to send the surplus to the West. They will have to deal with their own problems, and the forecast is “unpleasant”.
* Where are the signatures of the top 10 clerics from al-Azhar U. in Cairo ? Where are the signatures of the top 10 clerics of the Mosques in Mecca and Medina?
* Another good explanation of the letter's theologic significance. Time and Newsweek are taken to task for their ignorant gushings about its"peaceful" meaning and supposed "peaceful" outreach.
