Albanian Muslims Welcome President Bush With Open Arms

Finishing the Job Bill Clinton Started.

During his recent tour last week of several European venues that included Rome, the Vatican, Prague, and the G8 summit in Germany, the president, an ardent Christian, was received, at times, by massive demonstrations staged mostly by youth protesting his presence - and policies - in those very Christian cities and countries.

It was, instead, Muslim Albania - Europe's largest Muslim country (not counting Eurasia's Turkey of course) - that reserved a warm - indeed, the tour's warmest - welcome for the American leader. Dogged by protests during much of his European trip, Bush, nonetheless, was received enthusiastically June 10 in Albania, a former xenophobic Stalinist country, now eager to show that it remains one of the staunchest US allies in Europe.
