INDIA: CHRISTIAN YANKED FROM HOME, FORCED TO POLICE

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

The Christian pastor would not bow down to a Hindu god. Therefore, Hindu mobs yanked him from his house in the middle of the night. He was forced into the local police station and accused of committing the crime of not bowing down to a Hindu god.

This kind of persecution against Christians is increasing in India due to the growth of the Christian church there, per Allie Martin of AgapePress as reported on AFAOnline.

Believers, especially from the lowest class in India’s caste system, are confessing their allegiance to Christ as personal Savior. This does not set well at all with Hindu officialdom and local neighborhoods.

“Persecution against Christians has increased in India in recent years because of the tremendous growth of the church there, the Voice Of Martyrs spokesman observes. ‘It's a direct result of Christians who are actively involved in outreach to Hindus and literally thousands of Hindus coming to know Christ in a personal way,’ he explains, ‘particularly among the Dalits or the untouchables, the lowest caste of Hindus there.’"

Jesus predicted that His gospel would reach particularly those who were outcast. The Apostle Paul wrote in his letters collected in the New Testament that it was the poor and unlearned who would receive the divine insights. The rich would continue to depend upon their social status and wealth rather than lean upon Christ as Helper and Guide.

In India this is noted when that society’s poorest of the poor come into the divine insights of salvation. Though the caste system is no longer acceptable by law in India, yet it still exists.
