The Dems are making full swing over this US ports thing. If the Reps think they are going to keep ahead of the Dems, the Reps had better do more than lag behind or keep pace. They’d be smart to bond solidly and swiftly.
No Muslim should be within 100 miles of a US port. That’s the bottom line.
Senator Hillary Clinton has already gone on record as stating that everything having to do with US ports should be US, no foreign input.
I never thought I’d agree with Ms. H on anything; but on that I agree.
Therefore, the latest is that Dems on their Saturday radio broadcast called forth the troops against Dubai ports intrusion. Nix the Muslims, they said.
Further, of course the Dems added their own political nerve by their "scolding of President Bush," according to AP.
"Francine Busby, a school board member in a San Diego-area district, said Democrats want an immediate vote on the controversial ports deal, an increase in the screening of arriving cargo and more resources for the Coast Guard."
Now the Reps had better come out with the same or better—which means "tighter ports for US safety."
The AP Sunday reported that Reps want to wait "for the results of the administration’s new investigation of DP World." The Dems don’t want to wait.
Actually, last week the following came out of newsfeeds in favor of Reps: "’I think we should kill this deal,’ said Rep. Duncan Hunter, California Republican, who plans to introduce a bill next week to do so. ‘Dubai cannot be trusted.’"
Well, if the news release concerning Hunter is accurate, the rest of the Reps need to get on board with him and act this week.
What’s wrong with the Reps in the US Congress? Red States counted on more than what they’ve got thus far. With this ports issue, surely the Reps can see the truth and act. Now. Together.
Enough dragging the feet and dawdling. Enough
Watch out, Reps, or the Dems are going to win this race. And winning this race won’t be anything but shame to the Reps and kudos to the Dems.
Reps: Don’t let it happen.
