Moussaoui Knew Terror Plot Was `About to Unfold,' Jury Is Told


March 6 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. could have prevented the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks if Zacarias Moussaoui had told what he knew about the plot when he was arrested a month earlier, a prosecutor told jurors who will decide if he is sentenced to death.

``He knew there was a plot about to unfold,'' Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Spencer told the federal court jury in opening statements in Alexandria, Virginia, on the case's penalty phase. ``His lies caused almost 3,000 deaths.''
