Today Muslim millions marched. They sliced their backs open for the blood to soak their clothing, then drip to the earth. They beat their heads until the blood flowed. They knifed a slice across the forehead so that the blood would stream down their faces. The ground was covered with blood.All the while others cooked food in ceremony.

Children watched and entered in to the blood letting. Some said that they missed this annual blood letting for under Saddam Hussein it was forbidden. Now the New Iraq permits this Islamic ritual.
