MEDIA WANTS WHITTINGTON DEAD
J. Grant Swank, Jr.
It’s like watching a bull fight or cock fight. Those in the bleachers taste blood. It’s so repulsive. The liberal press is aching for Harry Whittington to die. If we have a corpse, we have a Vice President Dick Cheney on the ropes. And those ropes could loop for months and months.
What a jolly ol’ time the press would have nightly with that kind of macabre scene. Now all this comes down to the liberal press having lost its morals to the nth degree. We thought we had a chance for reform when Dan Rather hit the dust. And also when Peter Jennings was gone from the anchor desk. But that change-about-for-ethics-in-reportage lasted about ten days—give or take an hour.
