UN Urged to Stop ‘Defamation of Islam’ Campaign

Tens of thousands of people have signed a petition urging top United Nations officials to oppose a drive by Islamic governments to outlaw the “defamation” of Islam. Critics say the move is aimed at shutting down legitimate debate and restricting the freedom to share other faiths.

The initiative is being organized by the Washington-based American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), which says the push by the 57-nation Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) is anti-Christian.

Still in its early days, the petition is drawing considerable interest, with online signatories alone approaching 57,000 as of Tuesday.

  1. MississippiMud,

The UN should change its name to the UDUNRCIF. The Upside Down United Nations of Retarded Commies and Islam-o-Fascists. I can't count the times what UN has recommended are the exact opposite of what we should be doing. First they condemn the free markets, and demand we support socialism, than they condemned Israel and praise the Palestinians, than they demand the defenseless people of the world disarm themselves, now they tell us that we need to be sensitive to Muslims and we can't associate Islam with terrorism or oppression. They want us to ignore the fact that Groups like al Quaeda and Hamas, all use Islam as a justification for terrorism. Islamic Terrorism is a far greater threat to Freedom than criticizing Islam ever will be.

By the way, Christianity is not the religion we really need to worry about. When was the last time a large number of Christians went around threatening to behead someone who insulted Jesus? When was the last time it was mainstream Christianity anywhere in the world to call for the stoning of homosexuals?

    What do you think?
