Bush unveils security aid for "Palestinian" "ally" (Please sit down before reading this.)
WASHINGTON (AFP) - USPresident George W. Bush has ordered the transfer of about 86 million dollars in aid to strengthen security forces loyal to Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas, the White House said.
Confirmation of the US aid came a day after an Islamic militant carried out the first suicide bombing inside
Israel in nine months and as Abbas'
Fatah party is locked in a violent power struggle with the Islamist movement Hamas.
The aid is part of a broader US push to revive peace negotiations between Abbas and Israel and comes ahead of a meeting here Friday of the so-called Quartet of Mideast mediators -- the US, Russia,
European Union and
United Nations.
US officials said the aid, described as non-lethal assistance including training, vehicles and uniforms, would help Abbas counter militant attacks on Israel like Monday's suicide bombing in the Red Sea resort of Eilat which killed three Israelis plus the bomber.
"The idea is to build the legitimate security forces, to help provide law and order in Gaza and the West Bank, fight terror, and to facilitate movement and access especially in Gaza," said national security spokesman Gordon Johndroe.

Traditional Muslim Alert: of course Mohammed Saud, mohammed_souljha@hotmail.co.uk, who threatened to kill me in an email he sent me in December, is indeed not an extremist.
He recently wrote this in an email that was forwarded to me by a Jihad Watch reader who exchanged emails with him about his threatening me:
i am not an extremist, but i did threaten to kill a man who insulted islam.
What's "extremist" about that? The idea that people who insult Islam and Muhammad should be killed is mainstream in Islamic law, and is taught by all the schools of Islamic jurisprudence.
I don't accept the assertion that I have done so by shedding light on the elements of Islam that jihadists use to justify their actions, but that is a separate matter. From the perspective of Islamic law there is nothing "extremist" about Mohammed Saud at all.
Saud also recalls romeosay@hotmail.com, who also threatened me some time ago. In the course of his threats he said:
I will be violent against anyone who hurts muslim feelings about Prophet.
It is a religion of peace for everyone until some duckhead sprews out his damn saliva on a senstive topic as this. Spencer will be delivered.
A religion of peace, until you insult us. Then we kill you.

CSIS: Study Of Extremism - Jihadization of youth a ’rapid process’
TORONTO - Canada’s intelligence service says a "very rapid process" is transforming some youths from angry activists into jihadist terrorists intent on killing for their religion.
Enraged over what they perceive as a Western "war on Islam" and coaxed on by extremist preachers, a few have embraced terrorism with frightening speed, the service warns in a new study. "The transformation from radical to jihadist can be a very rapid process," says the "secret" report by the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, obtained by the National Post.
The study, released under the Access to Information Act, is the government’s latest attempt to understand why a handful of Canadian Muslims are alleged to have become involved in terrorist plots. It comes as a preliminary hearing is underway in Brampton, Ont., for four of 18 suspects charged for their alleged role in a Canadian terrorist group accused of plotting attacks in southern Ontario.
For at least the past two years, CSIS has been studying how some young people have been lured into terrorism. They are particularly interested in what made them radicalized and how they evolved from radicals to violent terrorists, a process known as "jihadization."
The conclusion: It depends on the individual. But analysts have come up with a list of factors they say are leading some Muslims to radicalism. They include the belief in the need to defend Islam from perceived Western aggression, the influence of spiritual leaders and extremist family members, and overseas training, the report says.

Muslims in Britain are being urged to keep their children from childhood vaccination, saying they are unIslamic. . .Measles, mumps, smallpox, polio. . . these are the things parents feared for their children prior to the 1960's. Measles contracted by a pregnant woman could render the fetus deaf, deformed, or DOA.
Mumps turned into Scartlet Fever. Smallpox left many a pretty face scarred for life. Polio left many in leg braces, or dead. These diseases were KILLERS. Modern vaccination changed all that. The past two generations have not had to fear these diseases . . . the World Health Organization recently reported that measles worldwide is down 60% and nearing eradication.
But now enter Islam. In Britain recently, a Muslim "doctor" with limited credentials and a book to sell, alerted the Muslim community that childhood innoculation is un-Islamic.
More dangerous, he also insists they are unnecessary. I know vaccines - it's part of my education. I've spent the past few days reading this man's diatribes and other articles written by those who believe and support him. It is truly frightening because it's based not on real science but on half-truths and superstition. If this bit of idiocy catches on, it will mean deaths and disfigurement amongst children in the Muslim community in Britain.
Worse, it could mean danger to the non-Muslim community. Without vaccination, some people would become carriers of viruses that could infect young babies and pregant women. The legal authorities in Britain will step in if this gets any bigger. The same argument will pop up in the U.S. It could get ugly.

Defense officials tell us one of the rules of engagement for U.S. combat troops in Iraq is vague and written by lawyers with little or no battle experience.
The result is that troops are at risk of getting killed in action because of military lawyers' penchant for ambiguity.
One troubling rule that is among several printed on the card given to troops going into combat is "use minimum force necessary to decisively eliminate the threat."
It is viewed by many in the military as ambiguous and confusing. "Does it mean you are obligated to wrestle with a threat rather than shoot him or her?" one defense official asked. "That is how a lot of police officers lose their lives each year, as the criminal gains control of the police officer's firearm. How about approaching and/or wrestling a threat who, it turns out, is a homicide bomber?"
Bottom line: There is no way in law to define "minimum deadly force," the official said.

CATHOLICS logging onto a Barrow church website were diverted onto a site run by a Muslim organisation.
St Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, on Michaelson Road, Barrow Island, keeps abreast of 21st century technology by having its own website.
But anyone trying to access www.stpatrickscumbria.co.uk website last week was diverted instead to a site called Islam Answers Back.
The site says Islam Answers Back is a division of Islaminfo.com.
In what appears to be a response to events both in the Middle East and here in the UK the website message says: “Muslims cannot stand idly by watching as Islam is under siege.
“Muslims have to provide answers to the objections and negative stereotypes of Islam.”...

Sydney conference speaker demands Islamic state
A speaker at a conference in Sydney's south-west says a revolution or a civil war may be necessary in order to create an Islamic state, or caliphate.The meeting has been organised by the controversial Muslim group Hizb ut-Tahrir, which is banned in several countries overseas.
A number of politicians have called for the group to be banned here.
One of today's speakers, Ashraf Doureihi, told the audience action needs to be taken to ensure an Islamic state is created.
"It is important... [to move] collectively in the Muslim world to demand this change from such influential people in our lands, even if it means spilling onto the streets to create a revolution or staging a military coup," he said.
Hizb ut-Tahrir spokesman Wassim Doureihi has told the audience a number of speakers will address the meeting today and discuss ways of establishing an Islamic super-state.
"As we were here today, what is at stake is not just the destiny of the Muslim world but indeed the whole of mankind," he said.

French Muslim jailed for attacking gynaecologist
PARIS: A French Muslim who attacked a male gynaecologist for examining his wife just after she had given birth, saying it was against Islam, has been jailed for six months by a Paris court.
Fouad ben Moussa burst into the delivery room at a Paris hospital last November and shoved, slapped and insulted Dr Jean-Francois Oury as he examined the woman after a complicated birth, the prosecution said in court on Wednesday.
Police had to intervene to remove him.
Ben Moussa, a 23-year-old lorry driver, apologised for the attack and said he had requested a female doctor. French state hospitals comply with such requests when staffing permits but say patients must accept treatment from the doctors on duty.
"This is a public and secular place," prosecution lawyer Georges Holleaux said of the state hospital where the attack occurred. "This is not the place where one can invoke religion to get different treatment."
French media have reported cases in recent years of Muslim men barring male doctors from treating their wives, sometimes resorting to violence, but legal cases against them are rare.
France's five million Muslims make up eight per cent of the French population, Europe's largest Islamic minority.

Man Who Rolled Pig's Head Into Mosque Won't Face Federal Charges
LEWISTON, Maine — U.S. prosecutors are not pursuing charges against a man who rolled a pig's head into a mosque.
Brent Matthews faces a state misdemeanor charge of desecration of a place of worship. State prosecutors also won a court order requiring him to stay away from the mosque.
Matthews, 33, has insisted the July 3 incident was intended as a joke. The pig's head rolled into the mosque as about 40 people were praying. Many Muslims consider pork and pork products unclean and offensive.
FBI agents and federal prosecutors looked into federal hate crime charges but ultimately decided to let the matter rest with state prosecutors.
"We're not going forward with our prosecution," Assistant U.S. Attorney General Halsey Frank said.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations had contended the act was an insult upon Islam.
Lewiston is home to more than 2,000 Somali refugees, who began moving there in 2001 for affordable housing.
Matthews could face up to a year in jail if he violates the court order requiring him to stay away from the mosque.

A FATHER shot dead his 17-year-old daughter, having suspected her of having sex, and surrendered to the police in the latest of the "honour killings" that have brought international opprobrium on Jordan.
An autopsy found the girl to be a virgin.
Weeks earlier the girl had returned home from a family protection clinic after doctors had vouched for virginity and the father had signed a pledge not to harm her, a state forensic pathologist said.
The father shot her four times in the head, said the pathologist.
The authorities have not disclosed the names of the father or the daughter or even their town, saying only that they lived in a southern province.

Ex-CIA Director: PA Arabs Don't Deserve State
James Woolsey, former Director of the CIA, told IsraelNationalRadio's Alex Traiman that a Palestinian state should wait "many decades" until they stop teaching their children to hate and murder.Traiman asked about Woolsey's choice of terminology in calling the present conflict between the West and Islam as World War Four.
Woolsey explained that shortly after 9/11, "I saw an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal by Eliot Cohen of Johns Hopkins University where he wrote that the Cold War was World War III, and that the war against what I call Islamist totalitarianism is World War IV... We have a situation where democracies in the west such as Israel and the US, and Japan and others too, are at war with a group of Islamist totalitarianism ideologies and movements - very loosely analogous to the movements of the 20s and 30s - Fascism, Nazism, Communism, and Japanese imperialism..."
Woolsey said that it could take the West "decades to win this war; the Cold War took us four decades to win, and I see no reason to expect this one to be less than that."
Traiman asked, "Iran is actively working on a nuclear bomb and calls for Israel's destruction. How long can Israel afford to wait before taking action? And how long can the US afford to wait?"
Woolsey did not offer a direct answer, but rather some background: "We can only hope that the Israeli and American governments have a better handle on the precise details of the Iranian nuclear program... The Persians [precursors of today's Iranians -ed.] invented chess, and they are playing it well. Hamas and Hizbullah and other groups are their pawns, and the Syrian government is a rook, and their most precious piece - their queen - is their nuclear weapons program. They are moving the pieces around quite cleverly, this week using Hizbullah to overthrow the government of Lebanon; next week it may be something else. They are moving their pieces with skill, and they're a very serious adversary."
PA State - Not in the Coming DecadesAsked his opinion on the establishment of a Palestinian state, the former CIA director recommended that it not happen in the coming decades. He said that though the Jewish presence in this region precedes the Moslem claim - "for some Muslims like Arafat to deny that Jews were ever present here is idiotic" - the Moslems also have national rights in the area.
Openly avoiding the question of the nature or borders of a Palestinian state, he emphasized his opinion that "the Palestinians should not be granted the right to statehood until they start to treat Israeli Jews who settle in the West Bank as fairly as Israel treats its Muslim citizens."
"An Arab Muslim living in Jaffa," Woolsey said, "enjoys freedom of speech, religion, and expression, and can vote for his representatives in the Knesset, and doesn't go to sleep worrying that some government element might come and kill him. I think that once the Palestinians start treating Jewish settlers with that same degree of humanity - and they're very, very far from doing that now - at that point I think we have to seriously consider how they could have some degree of self-governing. I won't get into the question of borders, but what I think is that the Palestinians must be held to the same standards as Israel regarding how they treat the other. I am sure this will be many decades from now, though, because their children are taught the Wahhabi doctrine of being suicide bombers and the like."
Disengagement Was a MistakeTraiman: "There are continuous calls for American troop withdrawals from Iraq; the unilateral withdrawal idea is back on the table here in Israel; and talks with Syria are again being pushed. Why are we playing the appeasement card?"
Woolsey: "Appeasement isn't called playing a card - it's just folding. I think those steps that you just mentioned are most unwise. Talking to Syria and negotiating should be done only when one has leverage... Unilateral withdrawal from the West Bank would not be a wise step for Israel to take; when one sees what happened in Gaza, and sees the political advantage that Hamas has taken of the situation to claim unilateral victory and now to be part of the PA government - how many failures do you need before you recognize that it's a failure?"
Woolsey said that this past summer's war between Israel and Hizbullah was a lost opportunity for the United States and Israel to jointly decide on Syrian targets to be attacked. This type of mistake must not be repeated, he said: "We ought to make sure that if there is another legitimate and reasonable occasion for us to use force in this part of the world against Syria or Iran, we must not waste it. We should move towards encouraging peaceful regime change there; but if we are absolutely forced to use force against Iran, for instance, in order to stop its nuclear program, that should not be the limit of our use of force - it ought to be used also to break the power of the terrible Iranian regime and give the people of Iran a chance to live under a better one."
Asked his opinion on Jonathan Pollard, Woolsey said that though he has favored a significant punishment for Pollard in the past, "now that he has served [over] 20 years in prison, my view is that 20 years is enough. I also think that the close relationship between the US and Israel is also of some consideration, and at this point I think he's served long enough. I won't go any further than that."

A DOCTOR who drugged and raped a patient in central western NSW has been jailed for a maximum of 13 years and three months by a Sydney court.
Rafid Alramadan, 55, was convicted of three charges over the incident at his Grenfell surgery on December 8, 2005, in which he drugged a female patient with the tranquilliser diazepam, then indecently assaulted and raped her.
At his trial, the victim gave evidence that Alramadan had given her two injections in the arm, leaving her feeling "hazy" and sapping her strength.
He then fondled her and had sex without her consent. Alramadan was found guilty of unlawfully administering a stupefying drug with the intent to commit aggravated sexual assault.
He was also convicted of having sexual intercourse without the woman's consent, and indecent assault, offences aggravated by the fact that, as her doctor, she was under his authority.

Losing Lebanon

Israel’s month of fighting Hezbollah last summer in Lebanon combined some effective air attacks on missile installations with confused, inconclusive actions on the ground. On August 11, around when Israel appeared to have learned lessons and was set to launch a serious ground campaign against Hezbollah, the UN Security Council imposed Resolution 1701 and stopped the offensive in its tracks.
I wrote at the time:
Allowing Israel to take a few more weeks and rout Hezbollah—preferably also with some sobering strikes against Syria—would have created a different scenario and, most important, perceptions of a Western victory and humiliating jihadist defeat. That may have allowed the truly moderate Christian, Druze, and Muslim forces in Lebanon to start trying to retake control of their country while leaving the Iranian-led jihad axis reeling.
Instead the United States and the world community have chosen with this dire Security Council resolution to create a powerful scenario of perceived, and to some extent real, jihadist victory...It is a moment that will come back to haunt America and the West.
It didn’t take long for it to come back and haunt it. Already on November 24 Time magazine reported that Hezbollah had replenished “its war chest with over 20,000 short-range missiles—a similar amount to what they had at the start of the conflict.” The effectiveness of the Lebanese and enhanced UNIFIL units that deployed after the war was limited to “forcing smugglers to use mountain passes instead of the heavily monitored crossing on the main Beirut-Damascus road.”
Tuesday’s harsh, Hezbollah-led agitation against the Siniora government was another ominous episode in a rapid deterioration. Lebanon’s Daily Star called it “a nationwide protest that paralyzed the country and left its capital engulfed in barricades of blazing tires and bloodied by clashes that left at least three dead and over 130 wounded...unverified reports [said] at least seven had perished in street clashes.”
The Star quotes Siniora in a televised address Tuesday night: “We are at a dangerous crossroads: Either we are heading to a civil war, or heading to dialogue.”
His hope for dialogue appeared naive, as Hezbollah MP Amin Cherri declared: “This was a warning to the government…. The government has to respond to our demands, and if it doesn’t, then it should expect even greater escalation, far worse than today’s.”
Since Hezbollah’s demand is basically that the government dissolve itself, further strife seemed assured. It continued Thursday with a Shiite-Sunni riot at Beirut’s Arab University that left four dead.
The situation found the West doing little but looking on and hoping for the best. In President Bush’s 2903-word January 11 speech on Iraq, the word Lebanon appeared only once: “From Afghanistan to Lebanon to the Palestinian Territories, millions of ordinary people are sick of the violence. . . .” The speech devoted a few sentences to Iran and Syria’s destabilizing role—in Iraq, while saying nothing about their effort, through their Hezbollah proxy, to convert Lebanon from a moderate, struggling, pluralist democracy to an outpost of fanaticism.
And Bush’s State of the Union address Tuesday night managed only to recount Lebanon’s recent troubles—“assassins took the life of Pierre Gemayel...And Hezbollah terrorists, with support from Syria and Iran...are seeking to undermine Lebanon’s legitimately elected government”—without even hinting that anything might be done about it.
On Thursday at a donors’ conference for Lebanon in Paris, Western and Arab parties pledged $7.6 billion to assist Lebanon with damages from the summer’s war and an enormous national debt. But with the country’s future in imminent peril, the idea of a gradual, assisted economic recovery has a surreal slow-motion quality to it.
Like—to a large extent—the imbroglio in Iraq, the crisis in Lebanon stems from having allowed Iran, with Syrian help, to foment radicalism and instability in the Middle East for close to three decades with little response other than warnings. Last summer the near-universal allergy to Israeli military action led the United States and other Western countries to save Hezbollah and ensure Lebanon’s descent into graver plight. Israel’s neutralization means there is no pro-Western force left to counter the radicals on the ground.
The fall of the Siniora government would constitute a major victory for the Nasrallah-Assad-Ahmadinejad axis, make war with Israel a certainty, and further galvanize Shiite and other extremism in the Middle East. The only remaining hope is that eventual Western military strikes on Iran and possibly Syria would take the geopolitical sting out of such a dire development, apart from Lebanon’s own tragedy.

Asking Muslims to do their job isn't 'intolerance'
OK, let's say you fly into Minneapolis-St. Paul. Let's say you're carrying alcohol - rum from the Caribbean, a Merlot you found in Napa Valley. Let's say you try to hail a cab while carrying said alcohol.Good luck. You're going to need it.
Three-quarters of the drivers serving the airport are Muslims, most from Somalia and, in recent years, many have refused to carry passengers carrying alcohol because Islam frowns on liquor. Dozens of passengers have reportedly been left stranded. Occasionally, even blind people using seeing-eye dogs have been refused passage by drivers citing Islamic teachings that the saliva of dogs is unclean.
Possible punishmentAfter simmering for years, the issue has come to a boil. Last week, the local airport commission scheduled a public hearing to discuss stiffening penalties for the wayward cabbies. As things now stand, a driver who refuses to carry you and your booze has to go back to the end of the cab line and wait hours for another fare.
According to a report in The St. Paul Pioneer Press, new rules have been proposed that would require a 30-day suspension for a first offense and revocation of a cabby's airport license for two years after the second.Sounds good to me, but Khalid Elmasry disagrees. He's the spokesman for the Muslim American Society of Minnesota.
Here's the society's idea: Color-code the taxis according to whether the drivers accept alcohol.Yeah, because flying is not enough of a hassle already."We will not see this perfect solution," Elmasry wrote last week in USA Today, "even though it meets everyone's needs. And what's next? Will the drivers refuse to serve gays or Jews or women without veils? Will they decline to ferry a customer to a bar or barbecue joint? Will we let everybody in every profession reject any customer whose race, culture, religion or moral choices offend?
No. Because that is anathema to this nation's ideals. And the sooner certain Muslim cabbies - and Christian pharmacists - understand that, the better. There are two missing children who because of there age are not cover by the Amber Alert System. WE are hoping that by sending this information to the widest number of people perhaps they can be found. PLEASE HELP SEND THIS TO ALL OF YOUR LISTS! TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE Thank you, June K. Rachel Smith (one of the two missing girls) is a member of the Potomac MD. Jewish community and a member of their local B'nai Tzedek teen philanthropy program. Rachel Smith, from North Potomac, along with her friend Rachel Crites, have been missing since Friday, January 19th. They were going to a movie in Georgetown on Friday afternoon and haven't been seen since. Rachel Smith, who is currently a junior at Wootten High School, also ran track last year. She is 5'1" tall and weighs about 118 lbs. She has green eyes and medium-length brown hair (the photo below is a fairly current one of her). Rachel Smith is 16 and is too old for an "Amber Alert". Her mom, Marian, is a preschool teacher at B'nai Tzedek. Marian just learned today that the last phone call she received from her daughter on Friday afternoon was actually traced to a cell tower in Charlestown, WV -- so the girls could be anywhere at this point. They were last known to be travelling in a dark blue Subaru Outback Station Wagon with a black cargo box on the roof. The license plate number is MD: MBJ 485. Anyone who has any knowledge of where these girls might be or has seen the vehicle, please call Montgomery County Police ASAP at 301/279-8000 or 240-773-5400 or call 911. Morocco Tightens Regulations for Building Mosques

A new law concerning the building of mosques was approved Tuesday night by the Moroccan parliament, aiming at tightening the supervision over Islamist elements.
According to the new law, people who wish to contribute money to building mosques must register as a legal association.
Also, any construction or expansion of a mosque will from now on require a special permit.
A few Moroccan religious movements have expressed their fear that the new law will hinder the process of constructing mosques.
Minister of Religious Endowments and Islamic Affairs Ahmad A-Tawfiq responded by saying the law would thwart any attempt to take advantage of mosques for "non-peaceful purposes." A-Tawfiq denied that his ministry's reform was the result of external pressures.

Those who do not study history are bound to repeat it.
America, and the principles for which she stands, democracy and freedom, are at war with Islam. Islam's clearly stated objectives and goals in the Koran are in clear conflict with those of America.
Islam's soldiers have already infiltrated America in many areas including the military. (Remember Sgt. Asan Akbar and his grenade attack on the 101st Airborne HQ in Kuwait?)
It's propoganda agents and recruiters, the Imams from Saudi Arabia, work their subterfuge through out the wahabi mosques in America, adding to their numbers daily.
Like the trojan horse, the enemy has already breached America's walls and have and will continue to wreak havoc from within. Profiling is expensive both in terms of man power and sheer logistics and is not enough to assure the safety of all Americans.
The most cost effective solution to the problem of preventing terrorist propogation and attacks at home is the internment of all muslims in America. Now before all you left-wing Kennedys and Hillarys get your panties in a bunch, consider the alternative: if just one terrorist cell succeeds in by-passing our leaking security systems, thousands or even millions of American lives could be lost if such a cell were to detonate a nuke in a major American city. Is it worth the risk just to placate a tiny percentage of the American population?
This is WAR and in times of war, the needs of the few are outweighed by the needs of the many.
The Japanese internment during WW2 should serve as a shining example of how effective this solution was. I don't recall any terrorist attack on U.S. soil during the internment. If it worked so well back then, it should work just as good now.
For the duration of this 'war on terror' a.k.a. war on Islam, only two options should be given to muslims residing in America: Internment or Deportation to an Islamic country, say, Saudi Arabia. Any muslim choosing internment in America should have to forfeit their property in order to cover the cost of internment so the over-burdened U.S. taxpayer won't have to foot the bill. In addition, the Saudi sponsored mosques could be sold to private developers and converted into multi-family dwelling/mixed residential/light commercial use to also assist in the cost of muslim internment.
The cost savings alone in not having to profile and survail every muslim peep should be enough to change the mind of even the most ardent liberal. This money could be funnelled into the war effort abroad for a speedy victory and the quick return home of U.S. soldiers. The savings could also be used to improve health care, crime reduction, education, and local infrastructure.
When the war is over, like the Japanese interned during WW2, those muslims interned can be freed to enjoy the democracy and freedoms, including the pursuit of happiness, paid for with the blood of U.S. soldiers.

US woman who refused to remove veil granted new hearing
HAMTRAMCK, United States (AFP) - A Michigan woman who lost a small-claims case because she refused to remove her veil while testifying has been granted a new hearing, court officials said.
Ginnnah Muhammad, 42, will appear before the same judge who told her last October that she had to remove her niqab -- a veil with only a small opening at the eyes -- so he could gauge whether she was telling the truth.
When Muhammad refused, Judge Paul Paruk ordered her to pay a rental car company for damage to a vehicle she rented. Muhammad appealed his ruling.
It is not clear whether Paruk will allow Muhammad to testify without removing her veil at the February 21 hearing. Paruk does not discuss cases before he hears them, court recorder and secretary Connie Sacco said Tuesday.
Muhammad said she plans to wear her veil again. "I'm hoping that the judge ... listens to my case and judges the case on its merits, not on how I look," she said.

Can Islam be Reformed?

I often wonder whether Islam can ever be reformed the same way as Christianity came out of dark ages. I firmly believe that the chance of this happening is Nil.
Because, the main necessity for any society to achieve reformation is the ability of the society for introspection. Now this is possible if the concerned society believes in Golden Rule and has conscience. These two are completely absent in case of Islam.
Koran tells Muslims that they are best people raised for mankind and their religion is perfect. With this inflated ego how is introspection possible and hence no reformation.
In 1400 years of existence Islam never produce men of stature of Lincoln or Gandhi. Only Bin Laden and Zarqawi can be found.
Only total annihilation of this Evil ideology is the solution.

Bomb suspects "radicalised in weeks"
LONDON (Reuters) - A group of British Muslims suspected of plotting to blow up U.S.-bound airliners flying from Britain had been radicalised in just weeks or months, London's police chief said on Wednesday.
British detectives announced last August they had foiled a suicide bomb plot to blow up planes using liquid explosives.
Officers have charged 15 people over the suspected plot with offences including conspiracy to murder and planning acts of terrorism. The suspects are due to go on trial next year.
"One of the really shocking things ... is the apparent speed with which young, reasonably affluent, some reasonably well-educated, British-born people were converted," police chief Ian Blair told a conference on Islamophobia.
He said the suspects had been converted "from what would appear to be ordinary lives in a matter of some weeks and months, not years, to a position where they were allegedly prepared to commit suicide and murder thousands of people".
Authorities are trying to understand what has caused a growth in extremism among the Britain's 1.8 million Muslims, dramatically exemplified by the July 2005 suicide bomb attacks on London's transport system by four British Islamists who killed themselves and 52 other people.

'Al-Qaeda' threatens to kill newspaper editor (Australia)
A MAN claiming to represent al-Qaeda in Australia has left a telephone message at an Arabic Australian newspaper threatening to kill its editor-in-chief and destroy its offices in Sydney and Melbourne.Apparently reading from a script, the Arabic-speaking caller threatened to butcher every Iraqi Kurd and Shiite in Australia.
ASIO and NSW police are investigating the message, left for al-Furat editor-in-chief Hussein Khoshnow 10 days ago.
The caller claims his "well-structured organisation" will track down the names and addresses of the newspaper's reporters.
"We will destroy the newspaper's headquarters in Sydney very soon, God willing," the caller says. "We will destroy the newspaper's headquarters in Melbourne. You will be butchered. Every Iraqi Kurd and Shiite in Australia will be butchered."
The threats, made on Sunday, January 14, were left on the answering machine in the newspaper's Fairfield office. They appeared to have been written down and then read over the phone in Arabic.
"Judging by the voice, I think it was a young man and from the way he spoke Arabic, his vocabulary and his accent, I think he might have been born here but of Yemeni or Syrian origin," Mr Khoshnow said.

AL-QAEDA'S second-in-command, Ayman al-Zawahiri, has defiantly mocked US President George W. Bush's plan to send extra troops to Iraq, saying he should send his entire army to be annihilated.
The online video message coincided yesterday with new intelligence that the former al-Qaeda leader in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, planned to send militants to the US on student visas to carry out attacks on US soil.
But the plot, which came to light during a raid on an al-Qaeda safe house in Iraq early last year, never got off the ground and Zarqawi was killed later in an attack by US forces, officials said.
Yesterday, al-Qaeda also claimed to have shot down a US helicopter on Saturday.
On Saturday, 25 US troops died, including 12 in the helicopter crash, in one of the highest single-day death tolls since the US-led invasion of March 2003.
But the al-Qaeda claim came only after a US official said the helicopter might have been hit by a shoulder-fired missile.
In the group's most recent video, Zawahiri, Osama bin Laden's deputy, repeatedly pokes fun at Mr Bush's plan for Iraq, as well as the US-led mission to rid Afghanistan of the Taliban.
"In his latest speech, Bush said in his ramblings that he would send 20,000 of his soldiers to Iraq. I ask him: why send only 20,000 soldiers? Why don't you send 50,000 or 100,000?" Zawahiri says in the 15-minute recording.
"Don't you know that the dogs of Iraq are impatient to devour the carcasses of your soldiers?
"On the contrary, you must send your entire army to be annihilated at the hands of themujaheddin so that the whole world will be rid of your wickedness."

Warning for Muslim WPc who refused to shake Met chief's hand
Scotland Yard said yesterday that a Muslim woman police who refused to shake hands with the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police at her passing-out ceremony would be dismissed if she did not "engage" with people as other officers do.Sir Ian Blair personally congratulated all 200 recruits at a ceremony in London last month, but shook hands with only 199 after the woman specifically requested that she should not be required to do so, apparently for religious reasons.
She also asked not to have her photograph taken with Sir Ian, Scotland Yard said, but a spokesman refused to confirm reports that the officer had cited her concern that a picture would be used for "propaganda purposes".
A spokesman said Sir Ian had questioned "the validity" of her request at the time and an investigation was now going on into the incident.
The statement said: "Ordinarily, the Metropolitan Police Service would not tolerate such requests.
"This request was only granted by members of training staff out of a desire to minimise any disruption to others' enjoyment, and to ensure the smooth running of what is one of the most important events in an officer's career."
The statement added: "An officer's probationary period is designed specifically to ensure that they undertake the role as required. If this does not occur the officer may be required to leave the service as any variation on this will not be tolerated."
The Yard said the WPc, who has not been named, had made it clear that ordinarily she would put her policing duties before her personal beliefs, except where she was able to make a choice to do so. A spokesman suggested that she would be carefully watched during her two-year probationary period, adding: "Any refusal to engage in this manner would not be tolerated by the Metropolitan Police Service."

Islamic Prejudice, Islamic Denial

For last week’s “Dispatches” program on Britain’s Channel Four, a reporter with a hidden camera entered Birmingham’s Green Lane mosque (which has won praise from Britain’s Muslim peer, Lord Ahmed) and other leading mosques in Britain.
He found they preached Islamic supremacism, hatred of Jews and Christians, and the subjugation of women.
The mosques, of course, are in heavy damage-control mode. A press release at the Green Lane mosque website complains that “it is extremely disappointing but not at all surprising that ‘Dispatches’ has chosen to portray Muslims in the worst possible light. ‘Dispatches’ has opted for sensationalism over substance with total disregard for peaceful community relations.”
And not only that: “This so-called ‘undercover’ investigation merely panders to age-old anti-Muslim prejudices by employing the time-honoured tradition of cherry picking statements and presenting them in the most inflammatory manner.”
The statement doesn’t address the obvious fact that it would be difficult, if not impossible, to cherry-pick statements anywhere near as hateful and inflammatory as those recorded in the Green Lane mosque from proceedings in any Jewish, Christian, Hindu, or Buddhist house of worship.
Among the statements recorded in the Green Lane mosque were these about women:
“Allah has created the woman – even if she gets a Ph.D. – deficient. Her intellect is incomplete, deficient. She may be suffering from hormones that will make her emotional. It takes two witnesses of a woman to equal the one witness of the man.”
“By the age of ten, it becomes an obligation on us to force her to wear hijab, and if she doesn’t wear hijab, we hit her.”
“Men are in charge of women. Wherever he goes she should follow him, and she shouldn’t be allowed leave the house without his permission.”
How inflammatory! How extremist! And how inveterately Qur’anic!

Afghanistan , Opium: Facts and figures
22 January 2007 16:03Opium dominates Afghanistan's economy: the illegal trade is worth $2.6bn a year, more than a third of the country's gross domestic product.
ORIGINS: A traditional crop for centuries in the mountainous border area between Afghanistan and Pakistan, the opium trade exploded during the 1980s, when it helped to finance the mujahedin war against the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan.
BLOWBACK: With heroin laboratories springing up on both sides of the border, gun violence, corruption and drug use has spread in Pakistan, which has some three million heroin addicts.
THE TALIBAN: After the Pakistan-sponsored Taliban swept to power in Afghanistan in 1996, it initially raised money by taxing opium production. But under UN pressure it finally cracked down, reducing the area under cultivation from 91,000 hectares in 1999 to only 8,000 in 2001, when it was ousted in the wake of 9/11 for hosting Osama bin Laden and al-Qa'ida.
EXPLOSION: Opium growing soared as soon as the Taliban fell, rising to 74,000 hectares in 2002. The head of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime says it reached over 400,000 hectares last year, producing a record 6,100 tonnes of opium - 92 per cent of the world supply.
HELMAND: Afghanistan's largest province produces 40 per cent of its opium and half the heroin in Britain. The poppy-growing area grew 160 per cent in 2006.

Speaking exclusively to The Sunday Telegraph in Lebanon, where he moved in August 2005 — at about the time it emerged the British authorities might charge him with incitement to treason — he claimed police officers, soldiers and civil servants would one day become radicalised.
"When you start to ask Muslims to join your Army and your police you are making a grave mistake. That British Muslim who joins the police today will one day read the Koran and will have an awakening," he said.

IRAN: TEENS HANGING OUT

On thereligionofpeace.com/ web site there is the Photo of the Week. It depicts two teenage boys being hung in public. Those assigned to destroy them have hoods covering their heads to hide their identities.
This kind of carnage goes on every day in such Muslim countries as Iran where sharia is the “system of law and justice.” Neighborhood children see this violence every day of their lives. They grow up with mayhem in murder surrounding their psyches.
Take this for example: “Ogün Samast, suspected of murdering Hrant Dink, Editor-in-chief of Agos Turkish newspaper, said in the statement to Samsun police following his arrest, ‘I shot him after I said my Friday Prayer.’
“Hrant Dink’s murder suspect was arrested yesterday night in Samsun after his father recognized his son on camera footage and informed the police. Brought to Istanbul this morning, Samast was interrogated by police.
“Samast admitted to murdering Dink in his first statement given in Samsun. This is what he reportedly said in his statement: ‘I read the news on the Internet. I saw that he said, “I’m from Turkey, but Turkish blood is dirty.” That is why I decided to kill him. I do not regret it.’”
Murdering for Allah is a pious act. It is not considered a crime.
Hanging teen boys in the town square is regarded as a pious act.
It is not considered violence.

Details Emerge About Possible Terror Threat
WASHINGTON, Jan. 22, 2007 — Mimicking the hijackers who executed the Sept. 11 attacks, insurgents reportedly tied to al Qaeda in Iraq considered using student visas to slip terrorists into the United States to orchestrate a new attack on American soil.
Lt. Gen. Michael D. Maples, head of the Defense Intelligence Agency, recently testified that documents captured by coalition forces during a raid of a safe house believed to house Iraqi members of al Qaeda six months ago "revealed [AQI] was planning terrorist operations in the U.S."
At the time, Maples offered little additional insight into the possible terror plot. ABC News, however, has learned new details of what remains a classified incident that has been dealt with at the highest levels of government.

Flags 'not banned' but unwelcome
MUSIC fans will be able to take Australian flags into the Big Day Out festival despite an attempt from organisers to lock out the "gang colours" they claim incited racial hatred last year.
Prime Minister John Howard said today it was "stupid and offensive" for Big Day Out promoter Ken West to attempt to stop fans taking Australian flags to
Thursday's concert at the Sydney Showground.
But BDO organisers insisted their plea to the expected crowd of 60,000 not to bring flags was "simply a request, not a command". "If people show up with a flag they will not be refused entry if they have a valid ticket," a spokeswoman said. Mr West said the display of nationalism under the flag at the Sydney leg of BDO last year, a month after the Cronulla riots, was intolerable.
"The Australian flag was being used as gang colours. It was racism disguised as patriotism and I'm not going to tolerate it," Mr West was quoted as saying in News Ltd papers. Mr Howard was joined today by Opposition Leader Kevin Rudd, New South Wales Premier Morris Iemma, the RSL and the Australian National Flag Association in condemning Mr West's comments.
"The proposition that the display of the Australian flag should ever be banned anywhere in Australia is offensive and it will be to millions of Australians," Mr Howard said.
